When are you considered a skilled worker?
- The employee is 18 years of age or older and holds a recognized vocational diploma relevant to the job they are performing. This means that if the employee works as a chef and holds a recognized diploma for chefs, they will be designated as a skilled worker.
- Once the employee has accumulated 1976 hours of experience in the specific job, they will be officially recognized as a skilled worker. Please note that these hours must be accumulated in the same job position and can be obtained either with the current or previous employer. This must be verifiable through payslips.
- If you are 18 years of age or older and classified in job group 5 or higher based on the reference job functions manual for the hospitality industry, you are automatically considered a skilled worker.
When are you entitled to a 2% skilled worker increase?
A 2% increase applies to all skilled workers as stated in Article 4.7, Section 5 of the hospitality industry collective labor agreement: "The wages of skilled workers with an actual salary between the base and final wage and on the final wage of the wage table as of April 1, 2022, will be increased by 2% as of January 1, 2023." This means that skilled workers with an actual salary between the base and final wage are required to receive a 2% increase. There are no additional conditions that need to be met.
- If a skilled worker earns an actual salary above the final wage on December 31, 2022, their salary must be increased by 2%, provided that the employee has been employed for 24 months as of January 1, 2023.
When are you entitled to a 2% periodic increase?
Starting from January 1, 2023, a fully skilled adult worker with an actual salary between the base and final wage on December 31 of the previous year is entitled to an annual 2% increment in their salary according to the salary scales. An employee is considered a fully skilled adult when they are 21 years of age or older. The condition for the periodic increase is that the employee has been employed as a skilled worker in the same job function with the same employer for at least a full calendar year as of January 1, 2023.
When is there no entitlement to a periodic increase?
A periodic increase is not applicable if the employee's salary on or above the final wage on December 31 of the previous year or if the employee has performed below-average or unsatisfactorily for two consecutive years based on the assessment described in Article 4.5 of the collective labor agreement.
